Pauline Ferrand-Prevot: "We can't be disappointed"

"We can't be disappointed after the last few weeks Marianne [Vos] has been through. We fought to the very end, we gave it our all. She would have loved to win today, we would have loved to win with her, but it's still a very good second place after what she's been through these past few weeks. Hats off to her."

"I wasn't scheduled to ride this race, but when I learned that her father had passed away, I asked the team to participate to help her. I spent quite a bit of time with the Vos family, so it was also a way of saying ‘goodbye’ to her dad, and of helping Marianne try to win Paris-Roubaix.

I think we had a good tactic, but Franziska was just a bit stronger at the end. I was a bit doubting with Blanka Vas, who is very fast in the sprint too, but then it was quite a good situation for us. I wanted Marianne to save as much as possible and try to win the sprint. It’s also part of cycling, you can’t always win.”
